ABOUT WAN-nl

We are the Newfoundland and Labrador expression of a broader workers’ action and solidarity movement across Canada.

We are a growing network through which low-wage, precarious workers collectively organize to have each other’s backs and unite in the fight for decent work for all.

Worker Solidarity:

an injustice for one worker is an injustice for all workers.

We believe that the best way to bring about decent work for every worker is for ALL low-wage and precarious workers to come together and organize as one collective voice.

What exactly is

Decent Work?

Decent work means more than fair wages and benefits.

Decent Work is employment which is free of harrassment, abuse, discrimination, precarity, and other unjust labour conditions which deny the dignity, rights, and economic well-being of workers.

The Fight for decent work is ongoing

From government offices to the picket lines, the growing collective voice of workers has been the driving force behind implementing measures that ensure Decent Work.

  6. Adequate protection and compensation for workers injured in the workplace

  7. Protection from racism, ableism, and other forms of discrimination, and harassment in the workplace

  8. Gender equality in the workplace

  9. Protection for ALL migrant workers, including migrant students

  10. Livable wages

we will identify issues and injustices to be addressed,

and we will fight for our collective rights as workers.
