Workers deserve fairness, dignity and respect on the job.

The Workers’ Action Network provides the means for people in the low-wage, unstable work to come together, assert our rights, and fight for better working conditions– from Labrador to the Avalon Peninsula.

Community. Support. Solidarity.

The Workers’ Action Network of Newfoundland and Labrador provides support, information, resources, and opportunities for workers to connect and get organized to win better working conditions.

Our Mission

  • Support One Another

As we meet to discuss our working conditions, we’ll come up with a plan of action to tackle disparity in the workplace.

  • Learn from One Another

Through workshops, meetings and information sessions, we’ll build a strong network and strategize based on our individual and collective issues as workers.

  • Build our Collective Voice

It all happens together. Every one of us must be involved to create meaningful change to our working conditions as a collective.

We appreciate your generosity and support of WAN. Please note that donations made to our organization are not eligible for tax refunds or deductions. As a non-profit organization, we operate under specific guidelines that may affect the tax status of donations. We hope you’ll still support workers through your own goodwill. We appreciate your support.

Your contributions and support are essential– they allow WAN to continue our critical work; providing information, support and community to people in low-wage, unstable employment– a vast majority of whom are unorganized and not protected by a collective agreement.

Now, more than ever, we need your support.

Make a commitment today to support Newfoundland and Labrador’s low-wage workforce in the fight for fairness, dignity and respect!

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Workers’ Action Network of Newfoundland and Labrador respectfully acknowledges the land on which we gather and organize as the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk, whose culture has been lost forever and can never be recovered.

We also acknowledge the island of Ktaqamkuk (Newfoundland) as the unceded, traditional territory of the Beothuk and the Mi'kmaq.

And we acknowledge Labrador as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu of Nitassinan, the Inuit of Nunatsiavut, and the Inuit of NunatuKavut.

We recognize all First Peoples who were here before us, those who live with us now, and the seven generations to come.

As First Peoples have done since time immemorial, we strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call it home.

Standing in solidarity against workplace injustice, we also acknowledge the historical and ongoing injustice of colonialism, as well as the ways in which settler workers continue to benefit from that injustice.

As we open our hearts and minds to the injustices of the past and present, we commit ourselves to work in a spirit of truth and reconciliation to bring about a better future for all who live and labour on this land.
